Telephone poles speak of long western highways and vanishing horizons; they create a trance-inducing rhythm. I have rarely photographed them. This was a bitterly cold day far between towns along the railway.  Electrical discharges? At first I thought it was static discharge inside the camera from rewinding the film, but the crackles appear around the tops of the poles and wires in several frames and are not random.
